DJ Supplies

Not too long ago just about anybody could be a DJ for a night. DJ Supplies consisted of a record player, a couple of speakers and a disco ball,a pile of records plus a bit of patter and to remember to put the "party" music on early to get things going, and then a few "smooches" later to wind things down. Simple!

Nowadays it's not so easy. Like everything else, DJ's are high tech and need lots of equipment to get the right "atmosphere" and "vibes". Some of those mixing tables have more buttons than an air traffic controller, and no doubt pressing the wrong one could be almost as disastrous in making the party crash. Crikey moses, these days DJ's are hitting the music charts and DJ mega mixes are selling more than the artists who sang the songs in the first place. Doesn't seem fair does it, but can anybody fill a DJ's shoes these days, if they have the right DJ supplies and know which buttons to twiddle and press?

DJ Supplies - What You Need To Get Started

The first thing to think about is where you're going to do your "DJing". If you're going to be in one place all the time, for example, it doesn't matter if your equipment is big, heavy and difficult to set up, because once it's done it's done, but if you're going to be a mobile DJ you'll need small, light equipment which is easy to set up and pack in the van to take home again at the end of the evening.

Don't buy the best, most expensive, most high tech equipment if you don't have the know how to use it. Although more expensive and up to date equipment might do more in the right hands, your equipment will only perform as well as you know how to use it.

So what DJ supplies do you actually need to get started?

  1. A turntable - although vinyl records are, to some extent, a thing of the past they're also easier to learn and great for DJ's.
  2. A mixer
  3. Speakers
  4. Lights
  5. Music!!

Make sure that the DJ supplies you choose have easily accessible and affordable replacement parts. In fact, it's always a good idea to have a few emergency parts with you. Vinyl records get dirty and can easily dirty or damage the needle. Look after your records and equipment and it'll look after you.
